Terms

Website terms.

These terms apply to the Impact Robotics League website and event platform. Event participation also requires registration, an approved waiver, and compliance with the current rules and event instructions.

Effective August 26, 2026

Operator

Impact Robotics League is operated by Placer Advanced Robotics and Technology (PART), a California nonprofit public benefit corporation.

Use of the website

Use the website only for lawful IRL participation, event operations, and access to public resources and records. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, misuse private links or event codes, interfere with the service, or submit false information.

Adult accounts and links

Students do not receive IRL accounts. Adults who register a team, accept an invitation, sign a waiver, or use an event-operations link must provide accurate information and protect their account, private links, and access codes.

Events, rules, and waivers

Website access does not register a person for an event and does not replace an event waiver. Participation depends on the event listing, registration status, payment status when a fee applies, signed waivers, inspection, the current IRL rules, and official event instructions. PART may change a schedule, format, venue, or event status when safety or operations require it.

Safety and technical resources

Combat robotics has serious mechanical, electrical, and battery hazards. Website resources do not replace responsible adult supervision, the current rules, inspection, or safe test containment. Test powered robots only in an enclosed test box with 1/4-inch polycarbonate or equivalent wood walls. Follow all weapon-lock, battery, charging, and event-official instructions.

Public records and corrections

Official event results create public team, robot, match, award, ranking, and career records. Demo data is labeled and excluded from official league records. If an official record is incorrect, email irl@placerrobotics.org with the event and record.

Third-party services

The website links to or uses third-party services for maps, video, payments, email, and other operations. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. PART is not responsible for content on an unrelated third-party website.

Availability and accuracy

PART works to keep the website and official records accurate and available, but the service can be interrupted and public information can require correction. Rules pages and official event instructions control over summaries or older copies.

Intellectual property

This website, the Kombat Event Management System that runs IRL event operations, and their source code, data model, and interfaces — together with the text, photographs, video, graphics, rules documents, and build guides published here — are the property of Placer Advanced Robotics and Technology. Copyright arises automatically when a work is created; it does not depend on registration.

Marks. Impact Robotics League, IRL, and Kombat Event Management System, together with the associated logos and wordmarks, are trademarks of Placer Advanced Robotics and Technology, claimed through use. They are not registered trademarks.

Systems. The league’s competition design is ours: the combat rating calculation, the XP and badge systems, seeding and pairing methods, award slates, and the event-operations workflows the platform implements. Our construction and safety rules build on published community standards, and those standards belong to the community that wrote them; the specific wording, structure, and IRL provisions here are ours.

What you may do. Teams, families, schools, and event partners may read, print, and share our public rules, build guides, and event information in order to take part in IRL, at no charge and with attribution. Robot names, records, and results on public pages may be quoted and linked.

What needs permission. Copying, adapting, or redistributing the platform software or its interfaces; running a competing league or event-management service built on our content, systems, or marks; bulk-scraping records; or presenting this material as your own. Access to this site grants no license. Ask us — we say yes to a lot, particularly for schools and fellow event organizers.

Permission requests and infringement notices go to irl@placerrobotics.org.
