A league built around the thing kids actually want to do.
Impact Robotics League is a program of Placer Advanced Robotics & Technology (PART), a Northern California nonprofit. We run combat robotics events for middle and high school students, and we keep the receipts: every match, every knockout, every badge.
What we believe
Students build the robot.
Design, construction, repairs, driving — the student does it. Adults mentor and supervise safety. At the high school level, adults do not work on robots at all. Middle schoolers get help with soldering and battery handling only, and only with the student actively involved. A league that quietly rewards parent-built robots teaches kids the wrong lesson twice.
Losing is data, not a verdict.
XP never subtracts. A kid who goes 0–5 still earns points, still has a badge case, still leaves with a bar that moved. The record is honest about the losses and generous about the effort.
The barrier is the cost, so we lowered it.
One pound, printed plastic, brushed motors, a 3S battery. No mill, no lathe, no sponsor. A complete competitive robot is roughly the price of a decent video game console, and there are options if you don’t own a printer. We publish the real numbers.

Nothing gets typed in.
Standings, ratings, XP, and badges are computed from match records. Manual and imported records carry their source and who verified them. If a stat is on this site, we can show you the fight it came from.
Safety is the whole job
These are real machines with real spinning weapons and real lithium batteries. Robots fight inside a sealed arena. Weapons carry a bright, physical lock any time the robot is outside it. Batteries live in fireproof bags, charge only in designated areas, and are never installed in the pit. Nobody powers a weapon outside containment — ever, anywhere, including at home.
