How XP, badges & ratings work
Everything on a robot card is computed from match records; manual and imported records carry a source and verification status. Nothing resets. Season 2026-27 values below are live from the event system.
XP and badges accrue from combat events only.
⚡ XP — the effort economy
XP only goes up. You earn it for showing up and fighting, not just winning — every match pays, and bonuses stack on top.
| First match of the event | +50 |
| Every match you fight | +25 |
| Complete all scheduled matches | +25 |
| Go the distance (lose only on the judges’ cards, never KO’d) | +25 |
| Win by judges’ decision | +100 |
| Win by KO / tap out / out of the arena | +150 |
| Win by forfeit | +50 |
| Fast KO — under 60 seconds | +50 |
| Flash KO — under 30 seconds | +75 |
| Weapon kill (disable the opponent’s weapon) | +25 |
| Giant slayer (beat a much higher-rated bot) | +75 |
| Phoenix (win right after being KO’d) | +50 |
| Make the finals cut | +100 |
| Quarterfinal win | +150 |
| Semifinal win | +200 |
| Runner-up | +250 |
| CHAMPION | +400 |
| Sportsmanship award | +75 |
| Pit crew assist | +25 |
| Judged awards (Best Hit, Most Destroyed, Design…) | +100 |
🎖 Builder levels
Career XP moves you up the ladder. Levels never go down.
🤖 Robot ranks
Ranks measure longevity only — how many events a robot has competed in. Championships are permanent title badges (one per event won, stamped with its season), never a rank. The current holder of a class's most recent championship carries a live 👑 Reigning Champion status that transfers the moment a new champion is crowned.
🏅 Badges
Badges are permanent achievements computed from your fight history. Tiered badges (I/II/III) show the highest tier reached.
Every badge declares who owns it — robot, builder, or either — and the window it is measured over: event, season, or career.
⚔️ IRL Combat Rating
Each robot carries an IRL Combat Rating — a standard Elo score that starts at 1000 and moves after every fight: beat a stronger bot, gain more; lose to a weaker one, lose more. A bot is provisional for its first 8 rated matches (its rating moves faster while the system learns). Beating a bot rated 200+ points above you is a Giant Slayer win.
⚠ This is IRL’s own rating, computed only from IRL fights. It is not your Robot Combat Events (RCE) ranking — that lives on robotcombatevents.com and is unaffected by anything here.
